DIRECT ANSWER

HOW TO START A TENT, RAINWEAR & SLEEPING BAG FABRICS PROGRAM

Tent, rainwear and sleeping-bag fabrics should be selected by product position and exposure. Base construction, coating or laminate, hydrostatic target, tear strength, flex, ageing, seam method, weight and packability need one approved route rather than a generic waterproof label.

COMMON BUYER PROBLEMS

WHERE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS BREAK DOWN

Each response connects the finished product and its exposure to a controlled material and verification route.
01

Waterproof is specified without the product position

ProblemA flysheet, floor, rain garment, cover and sleeping-bag shell face different pressure, abrasion, flex and comfort conditions.

Brilliant-Tex responseWe define the exact position before selecting the base fabric and barrier route.

02

Strength and weight are optimized in isolation

ProblemReducing weight can affect tear, puncture, coating stability and handling during sewing or sealing.

Brilliant-Tex responseConstruction, yarn, finish and product assembly are balanced against the intended service.

03

The fabric passes but the product leaks

ProblemSeam design, sealing, coating face, needle damage and finished-product construction affect water protection.

Brilliant-Tex responseFabric approval is connected to the converter or manufacturer process and final product test plan.

SELECTION ROUTE

FROM END USE TO APPROVED FABRIC

  1. 01

    Position

Separate fly, floor, wall, cover, rainwear shell, bag shell or lining requirements.

  2. 02

    Construct

Choose woven or knitted base structure, yarn, weight and mechanical targets.

  3. 03

    Protect

Define coating, laminate, water resistance, ageing and flex requirements.

  4. 04

    Integrate

Confirm sewing, seam sealing, bonding and downstream process compatibility.

  5. 05

    Release

Approve appearance, physical results and production consistency for the project.

QUICK ANSWERS

BEFORE YOU SEND THE BRIEF

Can the same waterproof fabric be used for a tent floor and rain jacket?

Usually not without separate evaluation. Pressure, abrasion, breathability, hand feel, seam construction and weight priorities differ by product position.

Does a hydrostatic-pressure result guarantee a finished tent will not leak?

No. Seam construction, sealing, component interfaces, design and finished-product testing also control leakage.
